
After Salta our next stop in Argentina was Cafayate. Cafayate is considered the second largest wine producing region in Argentina, after the more widely known Mendoza.


After spending some time on the beach in Chile we headed for the middle of the desert to San Pedro de Atacama before making our way into Argentina.


The Inca Trail was a huge moment for us in our trip, which made it difficult to say goodbye and move on. We had one more stop in Peru before moving on to Chile.


We left Lima early in the morning for a quick one hour flight to Cusco. For most people (us included) the main reason to visit Cusco is that it’s the gateway to visiting Machu Picchu.


The following day, with Markus feeling much better, we boarded a bus to start our journey to Peru. Because we lost a day to sickness we had to skip our last destination in Ecuador: Cuenca.
